10 Website Design Mistakes That Are Costing Dubai Businesses Clients
We've reviewed hundreds of Dubai business websites. The same ten design and UX mistakes appear again and again — and they're silently killing conversion rates. Here's what to look for and how to fix each one.
After reviewing hundreds of Dubai business websites, we've compiled the ten design mistakes that appear most frequently — and cost businesses the most in lost leads.
The good news: most of these are fixable without a full website rebuild.
Mistake 1: No Phone Number in the Header
The phone number is the highest-converting CTA on most business websites. It should be visible in the sticky header — as a tap-to-call link on mobile. We see Dubai websites where the phone number appears only in the footer or on the contact page. This is a significant conversion killer.
Mistake 2: Slow Load Speed on Mobile
Check your website on Google PageSpeed Insights right now. If your mobile score is below 60, you're losing a significant percentage of visitors before they even see your content. Most Dubai mobile users expect pages to load in under 2 seconds.
Mistake 3: Too Much Text in the Hero Section
Visitors scan, they don't read. Your hero section (the area visible before scrolling) should communicate what you do, who you do it for, and why to choose you — in under 15 words. Everything else can go below the fold.
Mistake 4: Generic Stock Photography
Stock photos of people shaking hands in generic office settings communicate nothing about your business. Real photography of your team, your work, your clients, and your results build trust in a way that stock photos never can.
Mistake 5: Not Enough Social Proof
Dubai consumers are sceptical. They've been overpromised by too many businesses. Testimonials, client logos, case study results, and third-party reviews — especially from recognisable UAE brands — are among the most persuasive elements on any business website.
Mistake 6: Forms That Ask Too Much
Every field in a contact form reduces submissions by approximately 10%. Audit your forms right now. If you're asking for more than name, phone/email, and a brief project description — you're losing leads.
Mistake 7: No Clear User Journey
What do you want a first-time visitor to do? What about a returning visitor who's already read your services? Different visitor types have different needs — and your navigation, CTAs, and content structure should guide each type towards the right action.
Mistake 8: Mobile Navigation That Doesn't Work
Test your website menu on an actual smartphone. Are all links easily tappable? Does the menu close properly? Can users find what they need in three taps or fewer? Poor mobile navigation is one of the top reasons for high bounce rates on Dubai business websites.
Mistake 9: Service Pages With No SEO Focus
Most Dubai businesses have one generic "Services" page. Each service you offer should have its own dedicated page, optimised for the specific keywords people search when they need that service. This is the single biggest missed SEO opportunity we see.
Mistake 10: No Analytics or Conversion Tracking
If you don't know how many leads your website generates, where they come from, and which pages perform best — you can't improve. Setting up GA4 with proper conversion tracking is the first step to a data-driven improvement cycle.
